The Frank Gehry Factor

I can't believe it's been almost a month since we've posted anything!! I was taking a look at our vacation pics again from the Northwest and I was reminded how much I love architecture. I've never been an expert when it comes to identifying different styles. I could never rattle off names and designs just by looking at a building. I can appreciate an aesthetically pleasing building but that was about as far as it went and then I saw this movie...

It's a great look into the life of an architectural phenomenon named Frank Gehry. What's even more amazing is his process for creating these masterpieces. It is directed by the late Sydney Pollack who follows Gehry around with a handheld video camera and documents a day in the life.

His stuff is very eccentric. I have this picture on my bulletin board at work.

This is the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain. Gehry designed this in 1997. I think it's so interesting to look at and so different from anything I've ever seen.

You can imagine how excited I was to go to the Experimental Music Project when we were in Seattle since it is another Gehry creation. Here I am in front of the EMP.

It is just as fascinating on the inside as it is on the outside.
I've also been watching a new PBS show called Spain... on the Road. It features Mario Bartolli, Gwyneth Paltrow, a NY food critic and a spanish actress. They go in search of all things food related in Spain. There is nothing more interesting to me than traveling and food! I just recently read that they will be interviewing Gehry on the show. I'll be interested to see how this interview plays into the food theme of the show!!
In the meantime, John is pacing the floor watching his Phillies in the World Series!! I think maybe Koda eating John's Phillie's hat could have been good luck!!!

A Love Story 20 Years in the Making

Congratulations you two!! You finally did it. Jolane and Taylor's love for each other began many years ago but as destiny would have it, it would take years later before reuniting and making it official!!

I wish nothing but all the joy, happiness, and love in the world for two of the most deserving people I have ever met. You both have been such a big part of my life and I love you both!

The boys looked SO cute in their matching shirts and ties

Jolane and Taylor surrounded by their family and friends to say "I do". Jen you did an awesome job marrying these two

These were the beautiful centerpieces that Jolane picked out. She did such a great job planning everything to the last detail.

Emily and Sylvia who helped get this party started, literally! It couldn't have been done without you guys

The ceremony site before the sun went down, very romantic!

The night before we had to go celebrate Jolane's last night as a single woman! We had a great time on the Delta King. For those that don't know it's a paddle boat that sits on the Sacramento River. Very cool!!

More Pics

I figured I'd throw a few more road trip pics out there. Ohhh, and I have to put it out there that The Fightin' Phils better get some of that fight back in a hurry before The Mets cash in. I have to say being a diehard Philly sports team is a difficult honor to endure season after season and I am trying hard to keep the faith with these guys. Already... I said it. Now I can move on with the rest of my night!!! Hope you enjoy the pics. until next post... have fun and enjoy the rest of Summer. - John
