It's a Boy!
John and I could not be more excited that we are having a baby boy! I'm still in shock since I was convinced that it was going to be a girl. I'm always nervous looking at the ultrasound so when the doctor started looking around, starting at the head, I had to turn away until she said everything looked good. John was right there looking at everything and listening to everything the doctor was explaining, the brain, the heart, the stomach, the umbilical cord. Then she said "ok, let's see if this is a girl or a boy" that's when John started concentrating really hard on the monitor and yelled out "there it is, it's a boy!". Of course I had to look and the doctor confirmed it was definitely a boy. I just lied there with my hand over my mouth in disbelief and sheer excitement. I was so happy for John because I knew he really wanted a boy.
Now I can stop calling it "it". He weighs 1.3 lbs and is healthy with a strong heartbeat. We have a few names picked out but probably won't decide until later. In the meantime, he's very active, especially really early in the morning. I'm feeling tons better and eating 3 meals a day with snacks. I've gained 3 pounds in the last 3 weeks which is great news since my doctor told me I needed to start forcing myself to eat more. I've gained a total of 8 pounds which is pretty good I guess, but I still have 4 more months to go!
